I’ve been quilting for more than twenty years, sewing for decades more. Alongside those hobbies I’ve also done knitting, embroidery, cross-stitch and a myriad of other crafts. So it’s no surprise that my stash has outgrown my space to hoard it. Truth be known, this really happened years ago but I’ve been ignoring it, hoping somehow the walls would stretch, but no luck.
So for the past four days I’ve been digging to the bottom of bins and boxes, pushing my way to the back of the storage locker, unearthing treasures long (and sometimes best) forgotten. There have been many instances of “Hello, old friend, I had forgotten all about you!” But there have also been just as many “What was I thinking??” moments! So much fabric, so little time.
Tomorrow, I will be heading to the local thrift stores, my little hatchback crammed with boxes of treasures. It feels good to be clearing out, and donating to worthy causes where hopefully, someone will be just as excited by these lovelies as I was once-upon-a-time. It is so liberating to part with what we no longer need. In fact, it feels so good that maybe, just maybe, I will stop at the local fabric store on my way home for a little reward.
